Launch Poetry Competition

When Robyn Annear launches the Word Mine she will scatter a bunch of old library cards. Everyone will be invited to pick up a card and quickly write A WORD of their choice on it.
The cards will be collected and the WORDS will be published on this blog.
People are then invited to take AT LEAST 10 of the words in order to create a poem. Words may be repeated.
It is OK to add a few extra words if needed, but the fewer extra words the better.
Poems are to be emailed to anndeh@bigpond.com .Make sure you include your name.
Entries close midnight September 17.
Poems will be judged by members of the steering committee.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the MEETING on September 28.
The prize will be a bottle of wine and one year's free membership of the WORD MINE.

What comes next

Some people have contacted me and said they can't make it to the launch. Never fear.We will be holding a follow-up event 28th September 7pm when we will be asking people to sign up as members of the CWM. Terry Jaensch will entertain us and there will be opportunities for people to volunteer their time, interests, areas of expertise etc in order to get the organisation off the ground.
Annual membership is $25 and if you come to the launch there will be a $15 deduction from your fee.

Mining the Word

Confirmed readers for the event on 3rd September are Carmel Bird, Rob Wallis, Lisa D'Onofrio, Rebecca Sutton, Julie Gittus and Neil Boyack. We have some fabulous gifts that have been donated by local businesses and writers for our raffles on the day. These include signed books, luxury hair products, vouchers and a wonderfully generous gift from Stoneman's bookshop.
